Dear families,

The primary programme at Tallinn English College is built on the principle that every child is an active and curious learner who explores the world by making meaningful connections between learning, their own experiences, and their surrounding environment. The school year is structured around six transdisciplinary themes, explored through inquiry-based learning units as part of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Estonian national curriculum. A comprehensive overview of the units of inquiry can be found here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tjocz2X5wQyXY…

The admission process takes place in two stages.

Stage 1 – Eligibility and Documentation

The Ministry of Education and Research has defined the target group for admission to IB curriculum study places in accordance with Annex 1 of the administrative agreement. Admission is open to children who meet at least one of the following criteria:

1. Children of foreign nationals whose parent is part of the dispatched personnel of a foreign diplomatic mission or consular post in Estonia;

2. Children of foreign nationals whose parent is employed under a fixed-term contract in national defense, at a public university, or at an accredited research institution in Estonia;

3. Children of foreign nationals whose parent works under a fixed-term contract at a representative office of an international organization, an international organization itself, or another institution established by an international agreement, as listed on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website;

4. Children of Estonian citizens whose parent works in the field of national defense and who have studied for at least two years at an IB school or an international school abroad at the same educational level, or within an IB programme, due to their parent’s employment abroad;

5. Children of Estonian citizens whose parent is an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and who have studied for at least two years at an IB school, an international school, or a local school abroad due to their parent’s employment at an Estonian foreign mission.

Parents or guardians are asked to enter their contact details, their child’s name, and their employer’s officially signed confirmation letter verifying eligibility within the target group into the school’s electronic admission information system.

It is possible to submit documents from March 6th from 4 pm to March 20th 4 pm. All submitted documents will be reviewed. Provided that the documentation is complete and meets the eligibility requirements, families will be informed by March 27th 2026 by 4 p.m. whether their child is eligible to proceed to the assessment of learning readiness.

Stage 2 – Learning Readiness Assessment Registration

If at least one of the eligibility criteria has been met, parents or guardians will be able to select a suitable assessment time. Registration will be open from March 27th to April 3rd 2026.

The learning readiness assessment will take place on April 13th 2026.
Further details regarding the assessment day will be shared via e-mail at the beginning of April.

We look forward to getting to know your child and your family and thank you for your interest in Tallinn English College.
